It’s the start of a new year, 12 months to experience new opportunities, challenges, and adventures. If you were asked to write down two things you would like to experience or do in 2024, what would they be? My top two would be focusing on my Reiki practice and less on my corporate job, working 7.5 hours per day and spending more time experiencing nature and being active outdoors. For me, walking on nature's grounds energizes me.
The 5th Chakra; the throat chakra. As you may recall from a previous blog I wrote, Chakra means “wheel” and refers to energy points located in the body. They can be described as open, aligned, and colored spinning disks that correspond to areas of the energetic body that affect emotional and physical well-being.
The Throat chakra is in the center of the throat. It is blue in color and is associated with the element of ether or space. It is the center of communication, emotions, and creativity.
Good indicators that this chakra is blocked or out of balance are feeling tension in the throat, clenching of the teeth, or stiffness in the jaw or neck. Difficulty or nervous about communicating or not feeling you have a voice are others. Speaking freely with compassion and being open to listening and hearing others are indicators of an open or in-balance throat chakra.
Ways to balance and open the Heart Chakra
Yoga:
Focus on poses that are work on the neck, like supported fish, cat/cow and cobra stretches.
Chanting:
There are lots of great chanting videos on youtube.
Here is one for you to try: Throat Chakra Healing Chants ⁂ Seed Mantra HAM Chanting Meditation (youtube.com)
Affirmations
Daily affirmations can help to change and improve negative attitude and self-talk to a positive attitude.
Here are some examples of affirmations:
I am a good listener.
I am clear and concise in my communications.
I am safe and express myself truthfully.
I enjoy talking with other people.
Using Essential oils and Crystals
Aquamarine, turquoise, and other blue crystals are great in helping to open and balance the throat chakra. These crystals can be worn in jewelry (pendants, earrings, rings) or placed in a pocket or in a purse. Remember to cleanse any crystals by placing them on a windowsill in the sun or moonlight and/or rinsing them in water.
Good essential oils to help open, heal, and balance the throat chakra are Frankincense, Geranium, Jasmine, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Sage, or Tea Tree. These oils help to promote feelings of comfort, nurturing and love.
Here are a couple of diffusing blends that I use in my practice.
Throat Chakra Diffuser Blend
4 drops Frankincense
3 drops Peppermint
2 drops Eucalyptus
Throat Chakra Roller Blend
3 drops Geranium
3 drops Frankincense
2 drops Lavender
2 drops Tea Tree
10 ml Roller Bottle
Jojoba oil
Add essential oils to the roller bottle, top with jojoba oil, and cap. Roll the bottle between the palms to blend. Roll onto pulse points, chest, throat, or neck area.
(If you would like to purchase oils from doTerra, I do have an affiliate link here: doTerra Oils. If you are not sure how to use a Diffuser, I wrote about that here: The Mystery Behind Diffusers )
Reiki
Reiki helps to clear out heavy energy/emotions such as grief, sadness, and anger, allowing healing energy to flow freely throughout the body. Through the release and clearing of these energies, chakras are balanced, opened, and aligned.
In my practice, I use a combination of essential oils, crystals, and Reiki. The crystals and essential oils used are intuitively selected and vary depending on the client. Each of my clients sets an intention for the sessions, e.g., to balance the heart chakra, and during the session, this area may receive more attention than other areas of the body. I intuitively listen to what the areas the body tells me to focus on during the session, keeping in mind the overall intention of balancing the heart chakra.
If you would like more information or have questions on essential oils or Reiki, send me a message or book an appointment.
I would love to connect with you.
With Gratitude and Reiki Blessings,
Diana
