The Sacral Chakra

May brings with it longer days, more sun, and the promise of the warmer temperatures to come. In Ottawa, the 20,000 tulip bulbs planted in the fall are in full bloom.

This month is all about creativity, passion, and playfulness of the second chakra, the sacral.

The sacral chakra is located at the base of the spine in the area called the sacrum and is orange in color. When this chakra is balanced, it provides us with the ability to be creative, abundant, playful, passionate, and inspired. Lack of creativity, an inability to find joy, overall resistance to the flow of life, and emotions of anger and fear are signs that this chakra might be out of balance or blocked.

Ways to balance and open the Sacral Chakra

Yoga:

Yoga is a wonderful way to open this chakra. Poses like the butterfly that focuses on moving and opening the hips and lower abdominal muscles.

Nourishing Foods

Eating certain foods helps to nourish and balance both the physical and energetic bodies. Carrots, sweet potatoes, mangos, butternut squash and orange citrus fruit are good go options.

Affirmations

Daily affirmations can help to change and improve negative attitudes and self-talk to a positive attitude.

Here are few examples of sacral healing and balancing affirmations:

  • I am capable of creating beautiful things

  • It is safe to express my emotions.

  • I trust my intuition

  • I release and let go of feelings that no longer serve me.

Journal

Write down on paper all the thoughts and emotions that you are experiencing. Try to write continuously without thinking or editing. You are the only person that will ever do this.

Use Essential oils and Crystals

Key crystals to boost creativity, passion and assist in aligning the Sacral are carnelian, sunstone, orange jasper and orange calcite. These crystals can be in jewelry (pendants, earrings, rings) or placed in a pocket or put into a purse. Do not forget to cleanse any crystals that are used either by placing them on a windowsill in the sun or moonlight or rinsing them in water. Orange calcite should not be cleaned with or placed in water.

Essential oils like sweet orange, tangerine, ylang-ylang, patchouli and helichrysum help to open and balance the sacral chakra. These oils help to promote feelings of creativity and positive feelings.

Here are a couple of diffusing blends that I use in my practice. You can purchase these oils from doTerra. (this is my affiliate link)

Reiki

Reiki helps to clear out heavy energy/emotions such as grief, sadness, and anger allowing healing energy to flow freely throughout the body. Through the release and clearing of these energies, chakras align, balance and open.

In my practice, I use a combination of essential oils, crystals, and Reiki. The crystals and essential oils used are intuitively selected and vary depending on the client. Each of my clients sets an intention for the sessions, e.g., to balance the heart chakra and during the session, this area may receive more attention than other areas of the body. I intuitively listen to the areas the body tells me to focus on during the session keeping in mind the overall intention of balancing the heart chakra.

If you would like more information or have questions on essential oils or Reiki, send me a message or book an appointment. I would love to connect with you.

With Gratitude and Reiki Blessings,

Diana
