I hope that over the holidays, you were able to spend quality to time with those you love and those who love you. 2021 is a now behind us in the distance and 2022 is stretched out in front of us. The holiday decorations have been put away, you may have resolved to eat healthier, get fitter, becoming more physically active or maybe shed some of the holiday weight you gained. It’s time to get back to a normal routine, whatever routine looks like for you.
January: the month of new beginnings, of taking stock and determining what things
you
would like to do and accomplish this year. It’s also a great time to look at cleansing the environment around you, your home, your cars etc. Clear out what no longer serves you like those clothes that you stored in a box in the back corner of your basement that you have kept and haven’t opened for years hoping that they will come back in style. Sometimes we don’t realize that negative energy and feelings, like fear, anxiety and anger also crept into our homes, cars, and workspaces and should be cleared out as well.
Negative energies tend to make their homes in the corner of rooms, closets, and basements. Take my home as an example, the master bedroom is at the top of the stairs. Whenever the front door is opened the airflow is right into the master bedroom. For this reason, I keep the doors of the 2nd floor bedrooms closed, making it more difficult for any negative energies to make their way in.
The easiest and best way that I have used to clear out negative feelings and energies is to light white candles. I do this in each room about once per month but go with your intuition on when to do this. White is for purification. Any white candles, even tea lights can be used. Place a candle in the center of the room or wherever your intuition leads you, don’t forget closets and corners, close the doors to the room/s and allow the candles to burn for a couple of hours or until you feel a change in the energy within the room. You don’t want to burn your house down, so think about safety. Place candles on glass plates or put them into glass containers and extinguish them if you need to leave the house.
Incense is another good way to clear out energies. Sandalwood and Myrrh are two senses I would recommend using. Again, use your intuition on placement within the room, duration, and frequency.
Smudging is an ancient indigenous practice going back thousands of years. It was used and still is used to clear the buildup of negativity in a person’s aura, their body, or their physical space. White sage and sweetgrass are the best kinds of sage to use and can be purchased at spiritual or indigenous stores. Don’t forget to open windows when smudging so as not to set off any smoke detectors or fire alarms. The last thing you want, is to explain to the fire department that the fire alarm went off and they are there because you were smudging. This might have happened to me and it’s a funny story now, but at the time, not so much.
If you are looking for ways of clearing your environment that don’t involve candles, incense, or smudging, diffusing essential oils is another easy way. I would recommend using doTERRA’s Purity, Lemon or OnGuard essential oils. Use a couple of drops, depending on the diffuser size, turn it on and let it run. Use your intuition on which essential oil or oils to use, duration and frequency.
If you have any questions or would like more information on cleansing negative energies, any of doTERRA’s essential oil, or to book a session, I would love to connect.
